Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units.

Landscapers spend most of the time outside performing physical labor. They work in all kinds of weather conditions; work may be dirty and physically demanding.


There are typically no educational requirements for this occupation. Those with a high school diploma or equivalent have a competitive advantage in the labor market. In addition, short-term, on-the-job training is typically needed, onceemployed, to attain competency in the skills needed in this occupation.
